From start to finish this was a great hotel. Check in was quick and easy, room was large with excellent views. Comfortable bed. Cannot fault it. The bar was downstairs has a good selection of beer and wine and staff were so cheery and helpful. Evening meal was excellent and good value. Breakfast was great with a good selection. I will definitely stay there again and good value for money.

Staff were excellent, everyone we met was friendly and helpful. Dinner was very good, nice restaurant and good atmosphere. Breakfast was served far too late (9am) we both had meetings to get to so just grabbed a roll and coffee on the way out. The room was very disappointing, (Black Cap) very small and cramped, difficult to maneuver around the bed easily. Overlooking the service area. Bathroom even smaller and not very clean, the toilet still had some residue in the pan! Wall fitments loose or missing altogether and hand wash dispenser needed cleaning to get to work. Four places on the wall to hang clothes, but no hangers provided. The TV did not work at all and from where it was fitted, pillow height at the side of the bed, it would have been impossible to watch it anyway. Paintwork badly in need of redecoration, walls and doors/skirting very marked and scuffed. No carpet on stairs making it very noisy when people went in and out of their rooms.

Full English was delicious and, more importantly, HOT and brought to my table. Lovely and relaxing setting. Amenable to adding eggs to vegan breakfast. I’ve had more expansive continental ones elsewhere but that was in a huge hotel. The restaurant for dinner was delicious; modern fusion cuisine and really well priced. Would visit just for restaurant.
